Home air conditioning and heating repair, replacement and installation
Central AC, heat pumps, furnaces, ductless mini-splits, ductwork and thermostats — repaired, replaced and installed by the same licensed crew that keeps commercial buildings running. Sized right for Central Valley summers, priced straight.
- 14 years in business
- Licensed C20, C38 & C43
- Based in Fresno, serving the whole Valley
The crew that services chillers and boilers will take good care of your house.
A Fresno summer is hard on a home air conditioner. Weeks over 100°, attics that hit 140°, and a system that runs from noon to midnight. When it quits, you want a technician who diagnoses the actual problem, fixes it correctly the first time and doesn't sell you a new system you don't need.
JP Air Conditioning & Heating has repaired, replaced and installed home heating and cooling systems across Fresno and the Central Valley for 14 years. We hold California C20 (HVAC), C38 (Refrigeration) and C43 (Sheet Metal) licenses, so refrigerant work and ductwork are done in-house by us — not handed off. And because we work on commercial and industrial equipment all day, a residential system is not a puzzle. It's a Tuesday.

Everything a home heating and cooling system needs
AC repair
Not cooling, blowing warm, freezing up, tripping breakers, leaking water or making noise — diagnosed and fixed, with the cause explained before the work starts.
Heating & furnace repair
Igniters, gas valves, limit switches, blower motors and heat exchangers — repaired and safety-checked before the first cold night.
System replacement
When a system is past its life, we size the replacement for your home's actual load, install it cleanly and start it up right — whether it's a split system, a heat pump or a rooftop package unit.
New installations
Additions, garages, ADUs and homes that never had central air — complete systems including ductwork, electrical coordination and permits.
Ductless mini-splits
Efficient heating and cooling for rooms the main system can't reach — bonus rooms, shops, casitas and older homes without ducts.
Ductwork & airflow
Leaky, crushed or undersized ducts waste a third of your cooling. We repair, seal, redesign and replace ductwork under our own sheet metal license.
Thermostats
Programmable and smart thermostats installed and set up so the system runs less when you're out and the house is comfortable when you're home.
Seasonal tune-ups
Spring AC and fall heating tune-ups: coils, refrigerant, capacitors, electrical, drains, filters and safeties — so summer and winter don't start with a breakdown.
Repair or replace? We'll tell you straight.
Most systems are worth repairing. Some aren't. A unit past 12–15 years with a failed compressor, a leaking coil or a cracked heat exchanger is usually a replacement; a younger system with a capacitor, contactor or fan motor problem is a repair. We'll give you both numbers and let you decide — no pressure, no scare tactics.
When it is time for a new system, we size it for your home's real cooling load, not just the tonnage of the old unit, and we handle the whole job: equipment, refrigerant lines, electrical coordination, ductwork changes, thermostat, permits and startup.
- Honest recommendationsRepair vs. replace laid out with real numbers, from a contractor who'd rather earn the next call than oversell this one.
- Sheet metal in-houseTransitions, plenums and duct changes fabricated by us under our C43 license, so the new system fits right.
- Rooftop, split or ductlessWhatever your home has — or should have — we install it and stand behind it.

Is your system doing one of these?
Most home AC and heating problems give warning first. These are the calls we get most from Fresno and Clovis homeowners.
- AC runs but the house won't coolLow refrigerant, a dirty condenser coil, a failing compressor or leaky ducts dumping cold air into the attic.
- Ice on the lines or the indoor coilLow airflow from a dirty filter or failing blower, or low refrigerant. Turn it off and call — running it frozen damages the compressor.
- Turning on and off every few minutesShort cycling from a bad capacitor, thermostat, oversized unit or airflow problem — hard on the equipment and the power bill.
- Water around the indoor unitA clogged condensate drain or cracked pan — easy to fix now, expensive if it soaks the ceiling below.
- Some rooms hot, some rooms coldUsually ductwork — leaks, crushed runs or a poor design — or a system that needs zoning or a mini-split for the room that never cools.
- Furnace won't light or keeps shutting offIgniter, flame sensor, gas valve or limit switch — and worth a heat-exchanger check for safety while we're there.
From your call to a comfortable house
Call or send a request
Tell us what the system is doing. If it's the middle of a heat wave and you have kids or elderly family at home, say so — we'll do our best to get there fast.
Diagnosis at your home
A technician tests the system — electrical, refrigerant, airflow, controls — and shows you what's wrong, not just a number on an invoice.
Options and a clear price
You get the repair price up front, and if replacement makes sense you get that number too, with no pressure either way.
Repair, test, done
The work is done, the system is run and checked, and you'll get a straight answer on what to expect from it going forward.
Get the system checked before the heat wave, not during it
A spring AC tune-up and a fall heating check catch the worn capacitor, the low charge and the dirty coil before they turn into a no-cool call in July. Your system runs more efficiently, lasts longer, and you're not waiting in line on the hottest day of the year.
Home AC & heating FAQ
How long should a home air conditioner last in Fresno?
With regular maintenance, most systems run 12–15 years here, sometimes longer. Central Valley summers are hard on equipment, so annual tune-ups and clean filters make a real difference in how long a system lasts.
Do you install rooftop units on homes, or just split systems?
Both. Many Fresno homes use rooftop package units, and we repair, replace and install them along with conventional split systems, heat pumps and ductless mini-splits.
Should I repair or replace my system?
It depends on age, the repair cost and how the rest of the system looks. As a rule, a system past 12–15 years with a major failure — compressor, coil, heat exchanger — is usually a replacement; a younger system with a smaller part failure is a repair. We give you both numbers and let you decide.
Do you work on all brands?
Yes. We repair and maintain all major residential brands and install new equipment sized for your home.
What areas do you serve for residential work?
Fresno, Clovis and the surrounding Central Valley — Madera, Sanger, Selma, Fowler, Kerman, Reedley and more. See our service areas for the full list.
